Our sweet little man

I don't usually spend the time to upload videos, but I find this one especially adorable. For those of you who don't know the sweet personality of our little man, here is just a glimpse.

Keeping a House clean when you have children is like...

Keeping a house clean when you have children is like...
  • You may have heard:  shoveling your driveway during a blizzard.
  • Here is my own analogy (not based on experience thank goodness): trying to quilt while your children are unpicking all of your stitches.
You may enjoy cleaning. It may be your hobby, but how can you enjoy something that is being undone as your doing it?

I'd like to hear your own analogies. Keeping your house with children clean is like... What to you?

Concussion

It's been a busy week. We had a family reunion at our house. It was good to see everyone. Katie Marie was riding her bike on Friday without her helmet on (it was sitting in the grass perfectly available to her) and biffed it big time. I went to go get her and she walked home crying, when we got inside she kept telling me she wanted to take a nap. That was the first red flag. Then she started to feel sick and began puking. That was the major red flag. Yep. She got a concussion. I took her into the doctor and he sent me to get a cat scan. She had no internal bleeding however and will be fine as long as she takes it easy for the next little while and WEARS HER HELMET!!!! She threw up approx. 8 times. During several crying/puking bouts she said, "I'm sorry I didn't wear my helmet mom. I promise I'll wear my helmet next time." Daddy said that if he sees her riding her bike without her helmet again, she'll have to wear it all day for a week:) Katie Marie was totally asleep when the doctor came in the room for our appointment and then she puked in front of him. He actually asked me, "is she feeling sleepy? Has she been throwing up a lot?" Uh. Obviously.
It was kind of unfortunate timing with family in town. She would have liked to play more that day with her cousins, but luckily she pulled herself together enough to have some fun later that night (even though she had to take a puking break in between playing). Oh and then the 2 year old toppled down our stairs and one of the teenagers launched himself off the atv and landed on his head (luckily he was wearing a helmet). I think I've about had my fill of head injuries/accidents for the weekend thank you very much!!!
I'm a bit of a basket case when it comes to kids getting hurt, but do you blame me? Sorry if you ever have to witness me totally overreacting! You'd probably be the same way if you had a child life flighted because of a head injury. I promise I used to not be like this. I still hold it together pretty good after the injury has already taken place, but it's the anticipation of an injury that causes me a lot of anxiety. Breathe in, breathe out, ok I'm good.
